10th September

10th September Sunday. Got up fairly
early and as I have a cold didn’t take
my usual shower, got washed & came
down to breakfast. Then Nellie, Millie
and I got busy, as the girls were having
open house in the afternoon for the
family of some friends to say goodbye to me.
Finished our preparations, had an early
lunch, relaxed, and now the bell is
ringing announcing the arrival of
the first visitor, who incidentally was
Anna Kidder, and now the invasion
adults, and children, then what a
surprise Milly brought in a beaustiful
bon voyage cake, with a miniature Queen
Elizabeth on it, and as it was in honour
of me I cut it, and it was handed all
round, though trying to diet somewhat I
couldn’t resist it, and it tastes superb.
Now most of the family have gone away,
Blanche & Barney stayed on, we had a
light supper, talked & reminisced, and
they also have gone, so after a little
while we all went to bed.

dining room chairs which were covered
in petite point work, all hand done
by themselves. Came home, relaxed

went of to Blanche & Barneys who

Aerial Gateway to the United States
Typical of the attention given to passenger con-
venience are the new streamlined custom facilities
which speed incoming passengers through customs.
Passenger claims his own baggage and takes it
to any of 36 supermarket-type checkout counters
in each of the two custom halls in the building.
Once he is past this counter he is clear of customs.
